ENERGY CONSERVATION POTENTIAL

As a result of all these activities carried out up to day, it has been identified that the energy conservation potential in the Turkish economy appears to be large. On the sectoral basis , in residential sector which is the largest energy consuming end- use sector in Turkey energy conservation potential is over 30% , in industrial sector it is over 20% and in transport sector,almost 30% depending in the measures to be taken. Total energy saving potential for the three sectors has been identified to be approximately 3 billion dollars or 14 million toes annually.

EIE/NECC has undertaken the leading role and conducted many efforts and gained experiences in energy conservation field so far. However for improving the effectiveness of all these efforts carried by on the volutarily basis it is necessary that an Energy Conservation Law should be put intto force and some financial incentives on energy efficiency be provided without delay. We believe that all these efforts will help to achieve the conservation potential of which magnitude is being expressed in billion dollars on an annual basis.
