Energy
Manager Courses
In November 1995, a regulation issued and enforced by MENR and EIE/NECC
in order to increase energy efficiency in industry. With this regulation,
industrial establishments that have over 2000 TOE energy consumption
should set up an energy management system, complete energy audits in
three years, monitor specific energy consumption of main products in
their plants and NECC has been monitoring all these activities. NECC
has also started to organize the Energy Management courses in 1997 and
has given the authority to three organizations in İzmir, İstanbul and
Eskişehir in order to extend these courses overall Turkey. Until now
approximetly 500 engineers from different industrial sectors have been
trained as energy manager in trhe courses organized by EİE and other
authorized organizations. Furthermore, Energy Management has been included
in the course programs of engineering faculties of some universities.
Energy Manager Courses have been organized for different sectors such
as iron and steel, arc furnaces, paper, cement, textile, fertilizer,
food, ceramic, non-ferrous metal sectors and automotive by both NECC
and authorized organizations.

Energy
Manager Course Structure is strengthened by the comprehensive support
of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In the scope of the ' Training Center and Model plant' project, while
realizing technology and information transfer from Japan that is one
of the most important country in the world on energy efficiency studies,
equipment requirement in EIE is supplied by the donations of JICA. Project
activities has been started opening ceremony on October 22, 2001. With
this project it is expected that effective energy management systems
in factories will be enhanced so that 10 % energy savings potential
equivalent to 2 million TOE and 500 million-dollar could be achieved.
Also this training center will be used for the region countries in energy
efficiency courses. First international
course was organized on June, 2002 with cooperation of the UN-ESCAP.
Besides
these services which have been given to the industrial sector, promotion,
publication, data base , policy and building sector activities have
been conducted.
