Energy Conservation Promotion Studies

In order to increase the effectiveness of energy conservation and extend them overall the Country, EIE/ National Energy Conservation Center (NECC) and the Energy Conservation Coordination Board (ECCB) which operates in coordination with the General Directorate of Energy Affairs of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) have carried out energy conservation awareness activities.

The ECCB primarily coordinates the government's energy conservation awareness campaigns that include an annual Energy Week (the second week of January), publicity material, contests for school children, TV spot films etc.

During the Energy Week activities organized by cooperation with ECCB and EIE/NECC, an opening ceremony at the President' House and two day conferences on energy conservation of the sectors have been held. Additionally, this year, a contest on the successful energy conservation projects implemented in their plants was arranged among the industrial establishments. After the evaluation of 40 application, selected five successful project was awarded by the President.

EIE/ NECC has also conducting promotional studies since ten years. In the scope of these activities approximately 60 publications were published up to the present. Industrial Energy Management Course Book (4 parts), Technical Tips, Technical Manuals are a few to be mentioned. These publications have been mailed to many persons and industrial establishments upon the request. Furthermore, TV spots and posters were prepared by NECC.

Besides these, NECC also organizes or involves many national and international conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings. Recent activities of NECC are international Electricity Efficiency conference organized by cooperation of NECC, IEA and WEC Turkish Branch in 3-4 April 2000 and 22 April Earth Day activities on the subject of clean energy and energy conservation.
