Photovoltaic cells (solar cells) are
semiconductor devices which converts the sunlight
on their surfaces to electricity. PV cells are mostly
has 100 cm² surface area, with a width of 0,2-0,4
mm.
The
efficiency of PV cells is between % 5 - % 20, depending
on the cell structure.
In order to increase the power output, PV cells
are connected in series and/or parallel, and are mounted
on a laminated surface to protect from the environmental
effects. This structure is called “photovoltaic module”.
Depending on the energy requirement, it is possible
to install systems beginning from Watts to MWatts
with photovoltaics.
